ABOUT ME

Hello there, welcome to my website.

My name is Lesley Torres, I’m a journalist based in Berkeley, California. I currently attend the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism where I’m getting my master’s degree in multimedia and investigative journalism. I’m passionate about discovering stories that slip between the cracks of traditional news coverage. I strive to understand the people behind the headlines.

I’m currently interning for KQED, the San Francisco NPR/PBS member station. I help produce Forum, a live show that covers local, state, national, and international issues as well as in-depth interviews with leading figures in politics, science, and the arts.

One of my favorite aspects of journalism is being immersed in different communities. My reporting has taken me to remote villages on the outskirts of Beijing, protests on the streets of Hong Kong, homeless shelters in Pennsylvania, and the criminal justice system in Oakland.

You can find my work in Oakland North, Penn State News, The Centre Daily Times, The Daily Collegian, and China Daily.
